Ppp(point to point protocal)

In PPP or point-to-point protocol the two components are connected directly, there is no any interference from any other components. It is data link protocol which is used to establish direct connection between two nodes of network. It have the property of authentication to the network, transmission on this protocol is encrypted and compressed.

Ppp is used on different types of physical network likes serial cable, cellular phone, phone line, trunk line, fiber such as SONET and in broadband connection. Since modem line can’t transmit IP packets on their own so ppp is used for dial- up access to the internet by the ISP. the most commonly  ppp protocol used by the ISP are point-to point protocol over Ethernet(ppoE) and point-to point protocol over ATM(ppoA) for establish Digital Subscriber line (DSL).

OSI stand for Open System Interconnection., which was developed by ISO (International Standards Organization) in 1977. It is the most widely accepted model for

understanding the network communication.
